Outdated tech - no ability to download or share

They do not offer any sort of digital download, no way to print, email or share your report. Their tech is so old that you have to request a report via phone or mail and then they mail it to you. In this day and age no one has time for that! Plus what, do they expect me to fax it or something? They need to get with the times!

The worst financial/credit company you can deal with

When a credit reporting agency gets breached (May 2017), you can imagine how bad they are. Every single interaction I have had with this company in the last few years (even before the breach) has been terrible. Latest example, today: suddenly not able to log on to their site. Tried the "Account Recovery" option, says my information does not match and I have to call customer support. So I call in, gave them all the information they asked for, they are UNABLE to locate my account. This is while I have had a "Complete Premier Plan" with them since 2020!!
Then they ask me to simply create a new account, and get a subscription for $20/month, while my original account is nowhere to be found, and they are not willing to create a similar account for me?!
Then they sent me this Dispute form, which is actually for the purpose of "updating personal information", which I really don't need as my information has not changed. There is a field in the form to write "other" reasons for submitting the dispute, it only allows 150 characters!! How am I even able to describe this situation with 150 characters?!!
It is very unfortunate that in certain situations we HAVE TO deal with a crap of a company like this, as they are one of the 2 major credit bureaus in Canada. If it was any other business, I wouldn't even pass from in front of their door.

No human customer support

I called to speak to a representative and all I got was the automated messaging. It could not hear my responses, and did not respond to typed responses. I tried several times to get a live person, and it kept referring me to the online web address and hanging up. Terrible customer service.

Won’t Remove Fraud from Account

There’s a fraudulent credit account listed under my name. I disputed it through the Equifax process. They made me answer a bunch of questions, had me scan my ID then I waited and was told there’s not enough information to complete the process. The representative was accomodating in that he bypassed that garbage and got my dispute to go through.

It came back with the claim that this credit card from a JC PENNEY’s in GEORGIA was legitimately mine when I have never even lived in Georgia let alone owned a credit card in that state! They won’t remove it from my account, so it’s a bad mark on my credit. ABSURD! There seems to be zero way to prove that something is FRAUD****** They don’t believe you if you try.

I have no idea what to do, but I sincerely wish Equifax was wiped off the planet at this point as they are not helpful at all.

Basicly A Scam

They ask about a dozen skill testing questions. Like what was your phone number 10 years ago. Etc. and if your current phone number doesn't match the number they have in their system they won't let you cancel your account. They will however continue to charge your credit card against your wishes. The whole basis of this company is fake. Pay them to get a fake credit score. Go into any mortgage broker and get him to pull up your credit score. Its not going to look anything like equifax's score. It's fake! Save your money. Use Transunion or a free credit report like credit karma. Oh and when you want to talk to someone. You'll be stuck in the metaverse for about 20 min before you get to talk to someone (from Manila, Philippines). If the company can't pay its staff in Canadian Dollars and provide jobs for Canadians, they don't deserve our Canadian money. Please Save Your Money and don't fall for this Scam.

Tough Love

Good customer service, representatives try hard to help but offshore call center is very loud and it makes the company look unbelievably unprofessional. Also, delay in publishing real credit core online is inexcusable and only way to get accurate score in via actual physical mail.
Sign of outdated technology and poor management.

Dishonest!

This place shouldn't be allowed to be a credit reporting agency. They give out false information. I went to annual credit report and Equifax wouldn't load. I was given their number to call and was told by one of their customer service reps that I HAD to have a my equifax account to get a free credit report. Lies! And they won't take calls from me to cancel.

If I could give less I would. Honestly hope they close down in Canada like Experian did. Absolutely useless. 200 points below TU. I'd rather there be a monopoly than these lazy ingrates. They never follow up or follow through.

worst company.. spoiling reputation of USA

This company is horrible to the extent that haven’t any other company operate.. Theor verification is all manual and they don’t have anything per social security and financial records what banker have. This proves how corrupted this country operates with typical example of crony capitalism. I am sure this company backed by political and lawmakers which is heavily invested and.no one can question this Equifax.

Worst ever experience

Worst ever experience
If I could just sum up all the 140 reviews and put them into this comment I would. Everything I read here about how low their service can be is true. Their records are not accurate, the customer centre staff can only read what your report already says, they are not able to provide any advice, you have to call at least 4 times to get one issue sorted, their scores are not aligned to the other providers, they hold absolutely anything against you, even the disputes that have been solved in your favour. Horrific!!!

You are entitled By law, to receive your credit report once a year for free, and it includes all 3 agencies. Be wary of paying for your report, they typically enroll you automatically in a yearly subscription, without proper notifications. There was a class action suit a few years back about this very thing. You can get your Equifax and TransUnion credit reports for free from CreditKarma.com
